I REALLY didn’t want to go to the BIG store (Ikea) to get one…I knew I could find one at goodwill… Figured I would keep my eye out… Went out today and could not believe my eyes when I found it:</p> <p><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/TGDT7_HGpGI/AAAAAAAAA4A/fa_HEtloVYI/s1600-h/DSC008738.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; margin-left: auto; border-left-width: 0px; margin-right: auto" title="DSC00873" border="0" alt="DSC00873" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/TGDT8MD2n7I/AAAAAAAAA4E/IJar97rmNcI/DSC00873_thumb6.jpg?imgmax=800" width="320" height="247" /></a></p> <p>Oh yeah .. not beautiful but not too bad right? hehehe Check out the top… oh yeah and this was after I removed some various halloween stickers… hehehe…. </p> <p><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/TGDT8R8_E4I/AAAAAAAAA4I/MITRo07zblI/s1600-h/DSC008745.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; margin-left: auto; border-left-width: 0px; margin-right: auto" title="DSC00874" border="0" alt="DSC00874" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/TGDT84GF7RI/AAAAAAAAA4M/G_XkXaTWhQc/DSC00874_thumb3.jpg?imgmax=800" width="220" height="320" /></a>But guess what? it was marked only $3.99!!!! Oh but it got better it was <font color="#ff0000"><strong>RED</strong></font> tag. What does that mean? Well it just so happened that red tags were 50% off today… OH YEAH!!!!! SCORE! $2 and I was running out the door! These are almost $20 at least at Ikea… and I’m not sure they sell them anymore because I couldn’t find them on the sight.</p> <p>Ok sorry I’m rambling… You want to see what I did right?</p> <p><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/TGDT9KRMqSI/AAAAAAAAA4Q/aLuLFVqU6S8/s1600-h/DSC008764.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; margin-left: auto; border-left-width: 0px; margin-right: auto" title="DSC00876" border="0" alt="DSC00876" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/TGDT9vfCY8I/AAAAAAAAA4U/dpCvCyWGVkI/DSC00876_thumb2.jpg?imgmax=800" width="320" height="209" /></a>Not bad right? Measure and mark size</p> <p>2. Then use laser Level to get straight line</p> <p><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/TE8vwvdpnPI/AAAAAAAAA08/pccBrpTm5Tc/s1600-h/DSC00230%5B5%5D.jpg"><img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px" title="DSC00230" border="0" alt="DSC00230" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/TE8vxQUrZRI/AAAAAAAAA1A/JBTh4KP7NSc/DSC00230_thumb%5B3%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="320" height="220" /></a></p> <p>3. Frog Tape along laser lines. I left laser up and taped each side individually.</p> <p><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/TE8vyud7eXI/AAAAAAAAA1E/dcz0_tvtMEE/s1600-h/DSC00227%5B4%5D.jpg"><img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px" title="DSC00227" border="0" alt="DSC00227" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/TE8vzF9DArI/AAAAAAAAA1I/BKG0JsU7xB0/DSC00227_thumb%5B2%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="307" height="220" /></a>4. Paint All center</p> <p><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/TE8vzYDY6qI/AAAAAAAAA1M/fVV2shGrIlM/s1600-h/DSC00226%5B4%5D.jpg"><img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px" title="DSC00226" border="0" alt="DSC00226" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/TE8vzvoYEjI/AAAAAAAAA1Q/vRsubhZAW64/DSC00226_thumb%5B2%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="314" height="220" /></a>  5. Use utility knife to cut extra tape off corners to square them</p> <p><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/TE8v0NrKcXI/AAAAAAAAA1U/_Qo1uKZhhwE/s1600-h/DSC00228%5B4%5D.jpg"><img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px" title="DSC00228" border="0" alt="DSC00228" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/TE8v04msXoI/AAAAAAAAA1Y/H_Q7dNWuRbo/DSC00228_thumb%5B2%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="253" height="220" /></a></p> <p>6. Do another set of tape around the first set. Follow the same instructions as doing the first. The space between the bottom of the first tape and top of the second will be the space for the frame part. Measure accordingly. It all depends how big you want your “frame”!</p> <p>Here it is all dressed up! I think it’s finally ALMOST done :) There will be a few tweaks of course but it’s mostly there. If you have any suggestions let me know! I have been looking at this wall for so long I think I need a fresh pair of eyes haha.</p> <p>For information on how I painted the wall and “frame” click <a href="http://morethanahouse.blogspot.com/2010/07/frame-with-paint.html">here</a></p> <p>So here is the over all look:</p> <p><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/TE82FvY85sI/AAAAAAAAA1k/C6E7B3oOzA4/s1600-h/DSC00727%5B4%5D.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; margin-left: auto; border-left-width: 0px; margin-right: auto" title="DSC00727" border="0" alt="DSC00727" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/TE82G6QFBgI/AAAAAAAAA1s/y5RBokYFJ88/DSC00727_thumb%5B2%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="502" height="349" /></a> </p> <p> </p> <p>Someday I will gain better photography skills :) Of course I have a tiny house without much natural light which doesn’t help.</p> <p>So here are some details</p> <p align="center">I LOVE this! I do I do I do. It’s actually a plant holder from Lowes. It was a black color and I painted it. Same with the bird cage which you have seen many times on my mantel :)</p> <p><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/TE82Hll4TkI/AAAAAAAAA1w/eklttERcnlk/s1600-h/DSC00723%5B8%5D.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; margin-left: auto; border-left-width: 0px; margin-right: auto" title="DSC00723" border="0" alt="DSC00723" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/TE82It9qpyI/AAAAAAAAA10/yYpDJjM8sBE/DSC00723_thumb%5B5%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="394" height="270" /></a> </p> <p align="center">Remember my frame remake <a href="http://morethanahouse.blogspot.com/2010/05/frames.html" target="_blank">here</a>? I have been playing with LOTS of frames lately. Working on the wall above my couch. I have a bunch of bird prints but they don’t necessarily all work together etc. So I have been trying to make them! :) </p> <p>This was just too cool not to share with you all. If you have ever had a print that was an unusual size (not easy like 8x10!) You can understand the frustration in trying to find a frame to fit it. Well I went out with measurements in hand to thrift stores. Picked up this thing – no glass with a dark green rim and measured. Sure enough same size as my measurements. Get home… and well… it doesn’t Fit!!!!! UGH apparently I had measured something incorrectly. But in sitting there on the floor both frames, print etc at my feet it fell together. Yes almost literally hehe</p> <p>The old frame fit perfectly inside the new frame! which meant the print would fit AND the glass would still work! WAHOO!!! Now just how to hold them together….</p> <p><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S_oKmulJ6yI/AAAAAAAAAx4/1jKSsVmacVk/s1600-h/DSC002718.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="DSC00271" border="0" alt="DSC00271" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S_oKnMunPQI/AAAAAAAAAx8/5gyV46bneSs/DSC00271_thumb4.jpg?imgmax=800" width="305" height="448" /></a> </p> <p>The original frame is the wood stained one – the new one is the dark green. The light green is the frog tape covering the perfect already white on the new frame! Since I was planning on painting the green already I could just paint the old frame along with it… AFTER I attached them together…</p> <p><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S_oKnloSf2I/AAAAAAAAAyA/usgFAK4afI4/s1600-h/DSC002754.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="DSC00275" border="0" alt="DSC00275" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S_oKoNUKvzI/AAAAAAAAAyE/tdU4O21-tCc/DSC00275_thumb2.jpg?imgmax=800" width="385" height="263" /></a></p> <p>Can you tell what they are together with? I put it at all 4 corners….</p> <p></p> <p><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S_oKo7OQ0xI/AAAAAAAAAyI/jPWnNQu28iQ/s1600-h/DSC002734.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="DSC00273" border="0" alt="DSC00273" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S_oKpaWGehI/AAAAAAAAAyM/valEH5O6d2k/DSC00273_thumb2.jpg?imgmax=800" width="385" height="263" /></a> </p> <p>And her close up… Mighty Putty… that’s right the stuff Billy Mays (RIP) sold to us on TV…. well I love that stuff. It is my duct tape hehe. I shoved it in to hold together. Let dry and it’s STRONG! Just to give stability to the rest so it wasn’t coming apart at all I put hot glue in the space between all around and big globs in the middle of all 4 sides.</p> <p><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S_oKphgVDuI/AAAAAAAAAyQ/cFfBJIbS23E/s1600-h/DSC002725.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="DSC00272" border="0" alt="DSC00272" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S_oKqM1xXDI/AAAAAAAAAyU/r6obk6rTQ3o/DSC00272_thumb3.jpg?imgmax=800" width="385" height="263" /></a> </p> <p> </p> <p>Here she is in all her glory all painted up… I’m not showing you with the print yet because I want to make you wait until I reveal the whole wall! :)</p> <p><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S_oKq1-AujI/AAAAAAAAAyY/NYaAKTt2N2o/s1600-h/image9.png"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="image" border="0" alt="image" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S_oKrTCr1oI/AAAAAAAAAyc/Ez7qWyeTpvU/image_thumb7.png?imgmax=800" width="305" height="348" /></a> </p> <p>What’s that you don’t believe me? But it still turned out pretty well!</p> <p><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S80r6tq2RbI/AAAAAAAAAxA/QMbixdHEEok/s1600-h/DSC00451%5B16%5D.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="DSC00451" border="0" alt="DSC00451" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S80r7QOIA8I/AAAAAAAAAxE/_x7YlkF7Wtw/DSC00451_thumb%5B12%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="402" height="631" /></a> </p> <p>I also just wanted one butterfly. It’s hard to tell in the picture but I made a little “flower” of sorts in the same way the paper bags were attached and that’s where the butterfly sits. I used sheet music to make the flower.</p> <p>Here is a picture of the process – I had everything I needed but the wreath base which is from the Dollar Tree so whole project only cost $1</p> <p><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S80r7t7FN-I/AAAAAAAAAxI/MzcXJ5Qy45U/s1600-h/DSC00129%5B10%5D.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="DSC00129" border="0" alt="DSC00129" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S80r8E6bVPI/AAAAAAAAAxM/kxJB0lzfkOw/DSC00129_thumb%5B6%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="413" height="282" /></a> </p> <p>And a final view of how it looks on my laundry room door</p> <p><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S80r8TXg84I/AAAAAAAAAxQ/Rv81bYqqox4/s1600-h/DSC00452%5B4%5D.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="DSC00452" border="0" alt="DSC00452" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S80r8y7DBFI/AAAAAAAAAxU/Y7ygV-fsnaI/DSC00452_thumb%5B2%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="290" height="552" /></a> </p> <p>Linking to:</p> <center><a href="http://asoftplace.net/"></a></center> <p align="center"><a href="http://todayscreativeblog.blogspot.com/" target="_blank" border="0"><img src="http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee298/oldrallychick/get-your-craft-on.gif" width="313" height="88" /></a></p> <p align="center"> <a href="http://asoftplace.net/"><img title="DIY Day @ ASPTL" border="0" alt="DIY Day @ ASPTL" src="http://i534.photobucket.com/albums/ee349/GDest07/Kimba/kimbaDIY125.png" /></a> <a href="http://www.reinventedkb.com/" target="_blank" border="0"><img src="http://www.eightcrazyimages.com/trashTotreasure.png" /></a></p> <p></p> <p></p> <p></p> <center> Stefaniehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00676040527130456768noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6459398511448287551.post-77579161867585532152010-04-18T19:36:00.001-07:002010-04-20T17:42:15.584-07:00Safe Travels – Postcard Display<p>I haven’t traveled much in my life. But I have lots of friends that travel. Many people want to bring something back. I request postcards. My grandma has been sending me postcards from her travels for years. So I needed to find a way to display them. </p> <p>A year or 2 a go I found a doll crib at my local goodwill. It was the PERFECT color… I have pieced it apart using the pieces for various things like the side rails as a trellis in my garden you saw in <a href="http://morethanahouse.blogspot.com/2010/03/early-spring-garden.html" target="_blank">THIS</a> post. So I decided to take the bottom part that the mattress would lay on to display my postcards. I stuck them in the metal where it would hold and used small clothespins from Walmart to hold where the metal wouldn’t. Here is how it turned out:</p> <p><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S8vBpyN5UqI/AAAAAAAAAwg/nvIJah_R1zs/s1600-h/DSC00454%5B5%5D.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; margin-left: auto; border-left-width: 0px; margin-right: auto" title="DSC00454" border="0" alt="DSC00454" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S8vBqQG1L4I/AAAAAAAAAwk/2vU0Zh_Ej_U/DSC00454_thumb%5B4%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="286" height="419" /></a></p> <p>It is in the entry way so every time I leave the house I see all the safe travels people have had and it makes me remember to travel safely :) </p> <p>Here is a close up of the piece of the bed:</p> <p><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S8vBqnhnzwI/AAAAAAAAAwo/OAP_LIp5Ye0/s1600-h/DSC00458%5B10%5D.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; margin-left: auto; border-left-width: 0px; margin-right: auto" title="DSC00458" border="0" alt="DSC00458" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S8vBrIDPrFI/AAAAAAAAAws/KZquyAQxYWk/DSC00458_thumb%5B9%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="380" height="260" /></a></p> <p>It’s a soft blue color. The wall is not even though it looks like it in the picture. It looks like a blue speckled egg. Too pretty!</p> <p><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S8vBrqqbwfI/AAAAAAAAAww/fHgTo9uGZF8/s1600-h/DSC00456%5B3%5D.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; margin-left: auto; border-left-width: 0px; margin-right: auto" title="DSC00456" border="0" alt="DSC00456" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S8vBr8hRjJI/AAAAAAAAAw0/TaVc7y2ALtQ/DSC00456_thumb%5B2%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="380" height="260" /></a></p> <p>One more for good measure. :)</p> <p>Posting to these parties!</p> <center><img src="http://itssoverycheri.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/ITS-SO-VERY-CREATIVE-BUTTON.jpg" width="110" height="150" /><a href="http://www.betweennapsontheporch.blogspot.com/"><img border="0" src="http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii164/Magnolias_Moonlight/butterfly-09-t-1.jpg" width="160" height="150" /></a><a href="http://thepersimmonperch.blogspot.com" target="_blank"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiuAzKec3dlM3vvWCECy6XiOlTh5CwHqFxZb2he6eHkbJ_Uc4QfOMSlNreGRznORjeWB0gmirhQXlUmbB_6U5v7mGfar1ZxtkkPvpLW-WD6VPg2ZM8f3jEnb9ttxtiv_lGqHGDMcBcMmWw/s1600/MIMButton150.jpg" /></a> </center><center><a href="http://makingtheworldcuter.blogspot.com" target="_blank"><img border="0" alt="Making" src="http://i367.photobucket.com/albums/oo119/tiffhewlett/Crafty%20Stuff/MondayCuter.png" width="150" height="150" /></a><a href="http://www.thegirlcreative.blogspot.com" target="_blank"><img alt="The Girl Creative" src="http://i456.photobucket.com/albums/qq286/happielife32/TGC_linkyparty.png" width="150" height="150" /></a></center><center><a href="http://cottageinstincts.blogspot.com/"></a></center><center> </center><center><a href="http://www.shanty2chic.blogspot.com/"> </a></center> Stefaniehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00676040527130456768noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6459398511448287551.post-28305186344968652802010-04-13T22:28:00.001-07:002010-04-20T17:42:35.940-07:00Wisteria<p>We hear LOTS about Pottery Barn and Ballard Designs…. but one place we don’t hear about much is Wisteria! We have had some nice days! Today was one so to inspire those here in the Northwest here are some pictures of my Garden today.  There is still a lot of work to do but it has come a long way and has a nice fresh look to start out the spring.</p> <p>We put gravel down because it was too muddy. It has been nice so far with all the dogs.</p> <p> </p> <p>Here is the full view – pieced together because I couldn’t get it all in one… </p> <p><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S6rLpxyYPfI/AAAAAAAAAtY/wNkenCdYxZM/s1600-h/Full%20View%5B4%5D.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="Full View" border="0" alt="Full View" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S6rLqvXA_sI/AAAAAAAAAtc/M9w9beJOx5A/Full%20View_thumb%5B2%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="623" height="179" /></a> </p> <p> </p> <p><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S6rLrNCA9RI/AAAAAAAAAtg/gPfrzwqQSg0/s1600-h/DSC00065%5B4%5D.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="DSC00065" border="0" alt="DSC00065" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S6rLr3aCpyI/AAAAAAAAAtk/uWBS7d3pTnI/DSC00065_thumb%5B2%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="300" height="450" /></a> <a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S6rLsV6OM3I/AAAAAAAAAto/QHBjmpD1eLM/s1600-h/DSC00068%5B4%5D.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="DSC00068" border="0" alt="DSC00068" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S6rLs62Lo-I/AAAAAAAAAts/VU_K1LH9mm4/DSC00068_thumb%5B2%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="300" height="450" /></a>    <a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S6rLteRWTqI/AAAAAAAAAtw/0UmWLzqXczc/s1600-h/DSC00070%5B4%5D.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="DSC00070" border="0" alt="DSC00070" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S6rLt7iYnYI/AAAAAAAAAt0/DLmUPKJ5DSg/DSC00070_thumb%5B2%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="300" height="450" /></a> <a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S6rLuLF5-TI/AAAAAAAAAt4/egbMk4sPckk/s1600-h/DSC00071%5B4%5D.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="DSC00071" border="0" alt="DSC00071" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S6rLuor-bwI/AAAAAAAAAt8/bILVzzDCYFk/DSC00071_thumb%5B2%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="300" height="450" /></a> <a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S6rLvLxzbAI/AAAAAAAAAuA/zKzLj9WX7XE/s1600-h/DSC00072%5B6%5D.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="DSC00072" border="0" alt="DSC00072" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S6rLvcvZ6eI/AAAAAAAAAuE/pvAqhSlmgA0/DSC00072_thumb%5B4%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="300" height="450" /></a> <a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S6rLv9AfS0I/AAAAAAAAAuI/ib3pqq2acDs/s1600-h/DSC00073%5B4%5D.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="DSC00073" border="0" alt="DSC00073" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S6rLwuZAs1I/AAAAAAAAAuM/90aSq9hPrlo/DSC00073_thumb%5B2%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="300" height="450" /></a></p> <p align="center">A view of the new gravel<a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S6rLxPC_OUI/AAAAAAAAAuQ/pgfABMyyTr8/s1600-h/DSC00075%5B4%5D.jpg"></a><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; margin-left: auto; border-left-width: 0px; margin-right: auto" title="DSC00075" border="0" alt="DSC00075" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S6rLxRFLFdI/AAAAAAAAAuU/LOIELxvZq5I/DSC00075_thumb%5B2%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="300" height="450" /></p>    <p align="center">Herb Garden</p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S6rLx4FXCoI/AAAAAAAAAuY/4WTby4snDXQ/s1600-h/DSC00082%5B6%5D.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="DSC00082" border="0" alt="DSC00082" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S6rLyQTHx9I/AAAAAAAAAuc/MCl9ZmOBoQM/DSC00082_thumb%5B4%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="300" height="450" /></a></p> <p align="center">I can’t wait until the leaves come in on this lace leaf Japanese maple. Sure I SHOULD have waited until their are not 1 million other things going on around the house … but I didn’t… because I was in goodwill and found this piece:</p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S4LGXQZm4SI/AAAAAAAAAsE/BLsJHqdx7sI/s1600-h/image%5B11%5D.png"><img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px" title="image" border="0" alt="image" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S4LGYmBxq2I/AAAAAAAAAsM/y3znPNtF8Qs/image_thumb%5B6%5D.png?imgmax=800" width="555" height="386" /></a> </p> <p align="center">How could I not get her? She’s so CURVY!!! She just needed a fresh coat of paint! Here she is all dressed up</p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S4LGaAcTq0I/AAAAAAAAAsU/EL8QJBUWBpQ/s1600-h/image%5B16%5D.png"><img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px" title="image" border="0" alt="image" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S4LGa2CD_MI/AAAAAAAAAsY/xbJ-50fDCKM/image_thumb%5B11%5D.png?imgmax=800" width="567" height="382" /></a> </p> <p align="center">Beautiful huh? She is painted with roller and brush in Ralph Lauren Roadster White. I decided to reuse the original hardware with this piece but sprayed it with a Rust-Oleum Hammered Spray paint in Dark Bronze.</p> <p align="center">Here are some of her details:</p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S4LGbZGemCI/AAAAAAAAAsc/ZIEf5GFODI0/s1600-h/DSC09850%5B4%5D.jpg"><img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px" title="DSC09850" border="0" alt="DSC09850" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S4LGbqbrnjI/AAAAAAAAAsg/i-ID-dAqK4o/DSC09850_thumb%5B3%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="260" height="180" /></a> <a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S4LGcOiNVFI/AAAAAAAAAso/Hr77CcAToHw/s1600-h/DSC09851%5B2%5D.jpg"><img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px" title="DSC09851" border="0" alt="DSC09851" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S4LGcnLzjCI/AAAAAAAAAsw/DPjcYgXudnE/DSC09851_thumb%5B1%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="260" height="180" /></a> </p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S4LGdKyb_zI/AAAAAAAAAs0/zLhWNHzGD3c/s1600-h/DSC09852%5B3%5D.jpg"><img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px" title="DSC09852" border="0" alt="DSC09852" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S4LGdvd840I/AAAAAAAAAs8/UdJxMjApQLo/DSC09852_thumb%5B2%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="260" height="180" /></a> </p> <p align="center">This shows some examples of choosing a TRULY good piece of furniture! This piece is solid wood with dove joints. A truly QUALITY piece of furniture we don’t see much of anymore!</p> <p align="center">So this piece took WAY longer than I thought it would and much longer than my china cabinet. i was ready to throw in the towel at a few different points. You see at first I used the rollable version of American Accents Heirloom White… I am pretty sure the paint was bad as even though I had Primed the piece the paint was easily scraping off. When I used the Ralph Lauren I had no problems… I won’t be using that paint again!!! I am glad it is FINALLY DONE! Now I can reclaim some space! :)</p> <p align="center"> </p> <p align="center">Oh and if you are local and interested in purchasing here you can check out the CL ad here:</p> <p align="center"><a title="http://seattle.craigslist.org/est/fuo/1611756921.html" href="http://seattle.craigslist.org/est/fuo/1611756921.html">http://seattle.craigslist.org/est/fuo/1611756921.html</a></p> <p align="center"> </p> <p align="center">You know I LOVE parties! I finally got around to making this magnetic chalkboard I have had on my list for a long time! </p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S3A9oPmZ5vI/AAAAAAAAAqk/nkUAWKZYWHY/s1600-h/DSC09761%5B3%5D.jpg"><img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px" title="DSC09761" border="0" alt="DSC09761" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S3A9ok1VfII/AAAAAAAAAqs/6dOtQmQIYMY/DSC09761_thumb%5B2%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="500" height="340" /></a></p> <p align="center">I LURVE it!!!! The frame was gold I just spray painted it heirloom white then took a piece of metal and painted with chalkboard paint. Then I took scrabble pieces and added magnets to the back. Also took one of the pieces that hold the letters for scrabble and put magnets on the back of it and put it at the bottom to hold the chalk and pen for grocery list</p> <p align="center">Here is the detail</p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S3A9pBTMa6I/AAAAAAAAAqw/qN0iwzysvaw/s1600-h/DSC09762%5B3%5D.jpg"><img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px" title="DSC09762" border="0" alt="DSC09762" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S3A9ptyK7KI/AAAAAAAAAq4/GYTDPmOzDw0/DSC09762_thumb%5B2%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="500" height="340" /></a> </p> <p></p> <p>I am linking to:</p> <center><a href="http://www.betweennapsontheporch.blogspot.com/"><img border="0" src="http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii164/Magnolias_Moonlight/butterfly-09-t-1.jpg" width="161" height="150" /></a> <a href="http://thepersimmonperch.blogspot.com/"><img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px" title="image" border="0" alt="image" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S3A9qG9sWSI/AAAAAAAAAqg/pWWgGeXWd0U/image%5B8%5D.png?imgmax=800" width="150" height="150" /></a> <a href="http://cottageinstincts.blogspot.com/"><img border="0" src="http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b186/momof6and1/100_1731-1-1.jpg" width="173" height="150" /></a><a href="http://itssoverycheri.blogspot.com" target="_blank" border="0"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIDyrxN7OJlHtaPJtZzsH3vZJ5rnSYAtJ5Zk124ExSxuw4zu5hs8kbBfvtTpoT7CIrlFJcxKgj5S-cbRlOlgyf7VNEAwRcQ6uYW8TC8in0TlfKd8HcSLmoM7eTwDEAH64vPeEYbnekC4xl/s320/Its+So+Very+Creative.jpg" width="112" height="150" /></a><center><a href="http://cottageinstincts.blogspot.com/"></a></center></center><center><a href="http://cottageinstincts.blogspot.com/"> </a></center><center><a href="http://makingtheworldcuter.blogspot.com" target="_blank"><img border="0" alt="Making" src="http://i367.photobucket.com/albums/oo119/tiffhewlett/Crafty%20Stuff/MondayCuter.png" width="150" height="150" /></a><a href="http://twiceremembered.blogspot.com/2010/01/make-your-monday-week-11-add-your-link.html"><img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px" border="0" src="http://www.twiceremembered.com/blog/makemonday1.gif" width="150" height="150" /></a> <a href="http://www.thegirlcreative.blogspot.com" target="_blank"><img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px" border="0" alt="The Girl Creative" src="http://i456.photobucket.com/albums/qq286/happielife32/TGC_linkyparty.png" width="150" height="150" /></a></center> Stefaniehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00676040527130456768noreply@blogger.com10tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6459398511448287551.post-53966041788934449572010-02-05T23:31:00.001-08:002010-04-20T17:43:25.168-07:00From Winter to Valentines – A Mantel Story<p>I have so much fun decorating my mantel now that I figured out some good core pieces! Here is my Valentines day mantel and the before and after of all the details</p> <p><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S20aeJitNQI/AAAAAAAAAoo/pQ_SEHeB9PQ/s1600-h/DSC09695%5B5%5D.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="DSC09695" border="0" alt="DSC09695" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S20aeqIbXDI/AAAAAAAAAos/X7s2N2xtsDw/DSC09695_thumb%5B3%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="622" height="331" /></a></p> <p align="center">Yes that is our TV above! I do need to do something about those cords! UGH And I couldn’t find the art comcast used to have on demand to put there for the picture :(</p> <p><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S20afD-qDmI/AAAAAAAAAow/EfvcNtbWAbM/s1600-h/Before%20After%20-%20whole%5B4%5D.png"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="Before After - whole" border="0" alt="Before After - whole" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S20af4ZGYVI/AAAAAAAAAo0/HZlewtLXtWo/Before%20After%20-%20whole_thumb%5B2%5D.png?imgmax=800" width="622" height="351" /></a> </p> <p align="center">As you can see the layout is VERY similar! This means just a few simple changes! I didn’t have the candle lit in the valentines pictures </p> <p><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S20ag7HmCEI/AAAAAAAAAo8/i9PPGozEYFE/s1600-h/before%20after%20-%201%5B4%5D.png"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="before after - 1" border="0" alt="before after - 1" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S20ah7cba4I/AAAAAAAAApA/nVB_0y8nCU8/before%20after%20-%201_thumb%5B2%5D.png?imgmax=800" width="622" height="451" /></a></p> <p align="center">So here I emptied out the apothecary jar and filled with brown basket fill from dollar tree that I had on hand. Then I shredded some music paper and put it in too. Then added a cream “M” for our last name tied with burlap, silky fabric, and pink ribbon. Tied the same trio around the bird bell. I am going to get a milk glass vase to round this out here but haven’t gotten one yet.</p> <p><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S20aiwGt0eI/AAAAAAAAApE/rv90LoKpGwk/s1600-h/before%20after%20-%202%5B4%5D.png"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="before after - 2" border="0" alt="before after - 2" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S20ajwo_dFI/AAAAAAAAApI/_YtiwWXJkT4/before%20after%20-%202_thumb%5B2%5D.png?imgmax=800" width="622" height="399" /></a> </p> <p align="center">Here I removed the silver star and added a silver plate behind the candles instead. Then just switched out the sweaters for music paper and added heart ornaments to the front. They are much pinker IRL! They look very red in the pics but they look like vintage ornaments IRL.</p> <p><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S20aklwmBmI/AAAAAAAAApM/mwKMY1-WlIQ/s1600-h/before%20after%20-%203%5B4%5D.png"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="before after - 3" border="0" alt="before after - 3" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S20alvxxFgI/AAAAAAAAApQ/UJRksOQ3CGY/before%20after%20-%203_thumb%5B2%5D.png?imgmax=800" width="622" height="487" /></a> </p> <p align="center">Here I switched the candles out since those were about gone. They are taller but were brown. I wanted pink candles so I just wrapped some paper I had around them where you can see through the glass. Removed the feather wreaths and wrapped in burlap and silky fabric. Then cut a bird out of music paper – glued to cardstock, added a felt heart shaped wing and hot glued on.</p> <p><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S20amp2YLNI/AAAAAAAAApU/D55tcZrkFQ8/s1600-h/before%20after%20-%204%5B4%5D.png"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="before after - 4" border="0" alt="before after - 4" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S20anV9cX0I/AAAAAAAAApY/apIIQszyuQM/before%20after%20-%204_thumb%5B2%5D.png?imgmax=800" width="622" height="411" /></a> </p> <p align="center">The before was blah. It was one of the parts that wasn’t working for me before. So a clear vase came from the other side and was wrapped in music with the word love! I got this wood candle at Kohl’s. It was Christmas at 90% off or something crazy so it was less than $2. I carved in a heart and the “K + S” for our names then filled in with dark brown marker so you could see it</p> <p></p> <p><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S20aoBooUTI/AAAAAAAAApk/WfGT9dqXkB4/s1600-h/before%20after%20-%205%5B4%5D.png"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="before after - 5" border="0" alt="before after - 5" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S20apMK7oBI/AAAAAAAAApo/3BEOZg4XtkI/before%20after%20-%205_thumb%5B2%5D.png?imgmax=800" width="622" height="474" /></a> </p> <p align="center">Again unwrapped and re-wrapped candles. Bell jar switched out with Milk Glass. During Transition after valentines these candles will still look good with just the hearts removed!</p> <p><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S20ap9z5RcI/AAAAAAAAAps/NoKmvh32XN8/s1600-h/before%20after%20-%206%5B4%5D.png"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="before after - 6" border="0" alt="before after - 6" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S20aqu9OeCI/AAAAAAAAApw/Ye_SbFsgipA/before%20after%20-%206_thumb%5B2%5D.png?imgmax=800" width="622" height="394" /></a></p> <p align="center">small cloche… Brought out the love birds! put cloche behind them over there nest. Brought small vase over from other side and put faux cherry blossom in off of larger branches.</p> <p align="center"> <a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S20ars110XI/AAAAAAAAAp0/hV6skgdOp1Y/s1600-h/before%20after%20-%207%5B4%5D.png"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="before after - 7" border="0" alt="before after - 7" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S20atJBEJHI/AAAAAAAAAp4/MMlZ89Er4NI/before%20after%20-%207_thumb%5B2%5D.png?imgmax=800" width="622" height="509" /></a></p> <p align="center">Again a little rearranging – rewrap – battery candle plopped in crystal for now. Picked two of these faux candles up for $0.48 each!!!! At a local hardware store. Switched out hanging snowflake in frame with something I threw together with a sticker, streamers, sheet music and card stock. I will show you how in a future post!</p> <p align="center"> <a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S20at1maHrI/AAAAAAAAAp8/UkzEW--dCN0/s1600-h/before%20after%20-%208%5B4%5D.png"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="before after - 8" border="0" alt="before after - 8" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S20avN2Y-0I/AAAAAAAAAqA/ge5y0bjOJp0/before%20after%20-%208_thumb%5B2%5D.png?imgmax=800" width="622" height="394" /></a> </p> <p align="center">Again in winter I didn’t get around to putting something in my nest :( Now I added birds in a yummy nest and the bell jar replaced with milk glass vase. Tied more burlap, sweater and pink ribbon around the top.</p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S20avtQEAwI/AAAAAAAAAqI/V38bJ00lFF8/s1600-h/DSC09706%5B4%5D.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; margin-left: auto; border-left-width: 0px; margin-right: auto" title="DSC09706" border="0" alt="DSC09706" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S20av5MBsoI/AAAAAAAAAqM/FzcjDip3Org/DSC09706_thumb%5B2%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="272" height="398" /></a></p> <p align="center">I LOVE their little nest!!!! and YES those are the white bird ornaments that were at the Dollar Tree at Christmas! Of course I bought TONS of them! I LOVE THEM! I just pulled out the hanging string and removed the wire from their feet!</p> <p align="center"> </p> <p align="center">Hope you enjoyed! Can’t wait to show you how easy this will transition to spring!!! :)</p> <p align="center"> </p> <p align="center">I’m Linking to:</p> <center><a href="http://itssoverycheri.blogspot.com" target="_blank" border="0"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIDyrxN7OJlHtaPJtZzsH3vZJ5rnSYAtJ5Zk124ExSxuw4zu5hs8kbBfvtTpoT7CIrlFJcxKgj5S-cbRlOlgyf7VNEAwRcQ6uYW8TC8in0TlfKd8HcSLmoM7eTwDEAH64vPeEYbnekC4xl/s320/Its+So+Very+Creative.jpg" width="112" height="150" /></a> <a href="http://twiceremembered.blogspot.com/2010/01/make-your-monday-week-11-add-your-link.html"><img src="http://www.twiceremembered.com/blog/makemonday1.gif" width="150" height="150" /></a> <a href="http://www.betweennapsontheporch.blogspot.com/"><img border="0" src="http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii164/Magnolias_Moonlight/butterfly-09-t-1.jpg" width="160" height="150" /></a> <a href="http://thepersimmonperch.blogspot.com/"><img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px" title="image" border="0" alt="image" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S3BoPk0jEII/AAAAAAAAArU/FK_ziqTcywg/image%5B4%5D.png?imgmax=800" width="150" height="150" /></a> <a href="http://makingtheworldcuter.blogspot.com" target="_blank"><img border="0" alt="Making" src="http://i367.photobucket.com/albums/oo119/tiffhewlett/Crafty%20Stuff/MondayCuter.png" width="150" height="150" /></a> <a href="http://cottageinstincts.blogspot.com/"><img border="0" src="http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b186/momof6and1/100_1731-1-1.jpg" width="173" height="150" /></a><a href="http://www.thegirlcreative.blogspot.com" target="_blank"><img alt="The Girl Creative" src="http://i456.photobucket.com/albums/qq286/happielife32/TGC_linkyparty.png" width="150" height="150" /></a><center><a href="http://cottageinstincts.blogspot.com/"></a></center></center> <p></p> <p></p> <p></p> <center><a href="http://cottageinstincts.blogspot.com/"> </a> <br /><center><a href="http://bethcrabtreehunter.blogspot.com/"><img src="http://i916.photobucket.com/albums/ad2/bethcrabtree/mantelparty_Page_0-1.jpg" width="180" height="206" /></a></center> Stefaniehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00676040527130456768noreply@blogger.com10tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6459398511448287551.post-54714889161782072062010-02-01T15:25:00.001-08:002010-04-20T17:44:07.978-07:00China Cabinet Turned Craft Storage<p>I haven’t told you all the news yet… but my mom is moving in with us. Yes that’s right… My 900 sq. Ft. will be shared with an additional 2 dogs and one adult. That puts the total in our 900 sq. ft. at 3 adults, 4 dogs and 2 cats!</p> <p>That means for some creative storage ideas. I needed a place to store my craft supplies now that my craft room has been taken over. So here is what I found:</p> <p><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S2diz_1FsVI/AAAAAAAAAlM/fyRmUUjyHOE/s1600-h/before%5B4%5D.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="before" border="0" alt="before" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S2di0dE8gSI/AAAAAAAAAlQ/f0BU6v4fguo/before_thumb%5B2%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="368" height="485" /></a> </p> <p>ok that is not the EXACT before because I forgot to take it. But it was similar…mine had a chicken wire type metal in the two side panels…I saw it’s potential for great storage! I purchased it off craigslist for $100.</p> <p>You have probably heard around blog land that Home Depot is clearancing out the Ralph Lauren Paint. So I got myself some “Roadster White” paint.</p> <p>Then got Clearanced Hardware from Target</p> <p>Then Fabric from Joann’s</p> <p>And TA DA</p> <p><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S2di0rIX2GI/AAAAAAAAAlU/G6QWCLw6xyM/s1600-h/DSC09617%5B16%5D.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="DSC09617" border="0" alt="DSC09617" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S2di1VpFzLI/AAAAAAAAAlY/PfkThgsHaEM/DSC09617_thumb%5B14%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="358" height="529" /></a> </p> <p>The Details</p> <p></p> <p><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S2di1rsWqXI/AAAAAAAAAlc/2eG0U2C1ZlE/s1600-h/DSC09621%5B10%5D.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="DSC09621" border="0" alt="DSC09621" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S2di2JVi1qI/AAAAAAAAAlg/wiYrtaaGqw0/DSC09621_thumb%5B8%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="317" height="457" /></a> <a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S2di2UDU4YI/AAAAAAAAAlk/SsWt0nZ7chI/s1600-h/DSC09618%5B9%5D.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="DSC09618" border="0" alt="DSC09618" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S2di29JGvhI/AAAAAAAAAlo/FPXDdBsGcQo/DSC09618_thumb%5B7%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="314" height="454" /></a> </p> <p></p> <p><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S2di3CIm9sI/AAAAAAAAAls/T5KKNWak_S0/s1600-h/DSC09619%5B7%5D.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="DSC09619" border="0" alt="DSC09619" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/S2di3i7bqEI/AAAAAAAAAlw/FUhTWHszykA/DSC09619_thumb%5B5%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="449" height="304" /></a> </p> <p>I think I am still going to sand some edges but that’s it. So here is the list of steps for decorating:</p> <ol> <li><strike>Paint</strike></li> <li><strike>Bones – Added architecture etc</strike></li> <li><strike>Fabrics</strike></li> <li>Art & Accessories</li> <li>Touch ups & Finishing Touches</li> </ol> <p>So you can see there are a couple more steps to complete so don’t judge yet! I am showing you before completion and it’s making me nervous! hehe</p> <p>Ok Here it is:</p> <p align="left">I still need to:</p> <ol> <li> <div align="left">Paint the trim we added above the toilet </div> </li> <li> <div align="left">Paint all the trim around doors white. It is a hideous orangey “wood”</div> </li> <li> <div align="left">Paint frame added around mirror (I am trying to decide if I should leave the vanity the color it is and do the frame the same or change the vanity to a color closer to black like in the inspiration bath</div> </li> <li> <div align="left">Touch ups</div> </li> <li> <div align="left">Accessorize – Including pictures above Toilet and vanity</div> </li> </ol> <p align="center"> </p> <p align="center">You can see it is basically a reverse of my inspiration background in layout. </p> <p><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/Swd5o9QsiII/AAAAAAAAAfY/O0x9asSLY1k/s1600-h/DSC08931%5B7%5D.jpg"><img style="border: 0px none ; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="DSC08931" alt="DSC08931" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/Swd5pCprs-I/AAAAAAAAAfc/wCnNfVycY8g/DSC08931_thumb%5B5%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" border="0" height="395" width="270" /></a> </p> <p align="center">I ended up finding these on clearance at bed bath & beyond and thought they would work perfectly in this space and be less expensive then matted prints like in the inspiration room. They were only $6.25 a piece! </p> <p align="center">This picture is the most accurate portrayal of the paint colors</p> <p><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/Swd5ps8xbzI/AAAAAAAAAfg/Th7zlRYowyI/s1600-h/DSC08930%5B7%5D.jpg"><img style="border: 0px none ; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="DSC08930" alt="DSC08930" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/Swd5pzDQi0I/AAAAAAAAAfk/CPdm6KG1eTc/DSC08930_thumb%5B5%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" border="0" height="395" width="270" /></a></p> <p align="center">The shower curtain is a terry cloth fabric. It was the display at BB&B and was 1/2 off!</p> <p align="center">All of the blue and striped towels are from burlington coat factory!</p> <p align="center">When I post final pics I will post cost breakdown and all</p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/Swd5qW9uffI/AAAAAAAAAfo/oVqbWGFuylk/s1600-h/DSC08932%5B7%5D.jpg"><img style="border: 0px none ; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="DSC08932" alt="DSC08932" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/Swd5qmSMy6I/AAAAAAAAAfs/rL5Fx8yY-mg/DSC08932_thumb%5B5%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" border="0" height="395" width="270" /></a> </p> <p> </p> <p></p> <p></p> <p align="center">Wish me luck in finishing up this weekend!</p>Stefaniehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00676040527130456768noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6459398511448287551.post-57107135696385126802009-11-19T14:29:00.001-08:002010-04-20T17:46:52.112-07:00The Bathroom Bedlam has begun!!!<p>I started redoing my bathroom today… well I guess I kinda started yesterday – I took down some stuff etc. But today the real insanity begun!</p> <p>Now I have a confession to make…. yes This is the 4th color I have painted my bathroom… insane right? That doesn’t include the original white the house came with… so… this is the 5th coat of paint on these walls… see these are all the colors that have been there before:</p> <p><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/SwXGx-Z9lwI/AAAAAAAAAes/BBBdHylDTdY/s1600-h/DSC08922%5B13%5D.jpg"><img style="border: 0px none ; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="DSC08922" alt="DSC08922" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/SwXGyUc0__I/AAAAAAAAAew/oaYAkKr6Fb8/DSC08922_thumb%5B11%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" border="0" height="345" width="240" /></a> </p> <p>Look at all this tape!!!</p> <p><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/SwXGyvHT0zI/AAAAAAAAAe0/pyXpSdmekOM/s1600-h/DSC08921%5B8%5D.jpg"><img style="border: 0px none ; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="DSC08921" alt="DSC08921" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/SwXGzUUorXI/AAAAAAAAAe4/8eQFVM8q8As/DSC08921_thumb%5B6%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" border="0" height="345" width="240" /></a>Painting a bathroom is no fun because there is SOOOO much taping involved! ugh! I hate the prep work with painting. It’s even harder that I have the worlds SMALLEST bathroom!!!</p> <p>So as I am writing this I am letting the first coat of the top half of the wall dry:</p> <p><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/SwXGz6mxxuI/AAAAAAAAAe8/tVudMuWGCUs/s1600-h/DSC08925%5B7%5D.jpg"><img style="border: 0px none ; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="DSC08925" alt="DSC08925" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/SwXG0OtuF_I/AAAAAAAAAfA/aV6d1yjALXg/DSC08925_thumb%5B5%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" border="0" height="350" width="240" /></a> </p> <p></p> <p></p> <p>It’s an off white – like Heirloom white :) It’s a little hard to tell from the pics… it definitely needs a second coat!</p> <p>There are two VERY important tools I use when painting:</p> <p>1. Music! I am using Foo Fighters Live on Comcast On Demand – My FAVORITE band!!!</p> <p><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/SwXG0do_vQI/AAAAAAAAAfE/v14ZlfwODo8/s1600-h/DSC08924%5B8%5D.jpg"><img style="border: 0px none ; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="DSC08924" alt="DSC08924" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/SwXG0-bA_aI/AAAAAAAAAfI/J1QvO5IsekE/DSC08924_thumb%5B6%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" border="0" height="264" width="380" /></a> </p> <p>2. Caffeine – I can’t do anything without my Dr. Pepper!!!!!!</p> <p><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/SwXG1PA_ilI/AAAAAAAAAfM/0rvErnH1gKE/s1600-h/DSC08927%5B7%5D.jpg"><img style="border: 0px none ; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="DSC08927" alt="DSC08927" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/SwXG1wlIaaI/AAAAAAAAAfQ/QpfbLqq1Ho0/DSC08927_thumb%5B5%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" border="0" height="350" width="240" /></a> </p> <p>So are you ready to see my inspiration for the room as a teaser??? It has been in my design file for a LONG time and this week was the week I decided it must be done:</p> <p><a href="http://www.theletteredcottage.net/2009/04/billingsley-bath-re-design.html"><img style="border: 0px none ; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="image" alt="image" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/SwXG3Kk0rEI/AAAAAAAAAfU/eDoWH126Y8M/image%5B9%5D.png?imgmax=800" border="0" height="368" width="264" /></a> </p> <p></p> <p>It’s from Layla at the Lettered Cottage!! I just love it and it is exactly the same layout as my bathroom so I knew it would work. You can click on the picture for more details! </p> <p>So my goal today is to do all the painting and hardware up etc. Then tomorrow… SHOPPING! To pick up a few accessories and hopefully in the evening get them in there and it will be complete :)</p> <p>Wish me luck and check back in the next couple days to see the completed room!!! I am off to put on the second coat now!!!</p>Stefaniehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00676040527130456768noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6459398511448287551.post-71316406033285868492009-11-18T20:39:00.001-08:002010-04-20T17:48:05.214-07:00Gratitude Burlap Banner and Ragamuffin Wreath<p><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/SwTL3b7JEpI/AAAAAAAAAdE/d__YoWtnmJA/s1600-h/DSC08908%5B17%5D.jpg"><img style="border: 0px none ; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="DSC08908" alt="DSC08908" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/SwTL39UxekI/AAAAAAAAAdI/M81d7V4U0jU/DSC08908_thumb%5B13%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" border="0" height="284" width="410" /></a> </p> <p>Remember I said I was going to do a burlap banner? I finished it last week but am just getting around to posting. </p> <p>See that cute ragamuffin wreath too? Yeah made that a few weeks ago and am just getting around to showing it off too! Here’s a close up. Ignore the cast off parts from other projects sitting on the porch! hehe</p> <p><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/SwTL4GfX4rI/AAAAAAAAAdM/ASRWKnxZIeM/s1600-h/DSC08909%5B8%5D.jpg"><img style="border: 0px none ; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="DSC08909" alt="DSC08909" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/SwTL46eBqQI/AAAAAAAAAdQ/BvN7rxdY4RY/DSC08909_thumb%5B6%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" border="0" height="433" width="300" /></a>I followed the <a href="http://nestingplacenc.blogspot.com/2008/04/ragamuffin-memo-garland.html">ragamuffin garland tutorial here</a> but did it around an embroidery hoop!!! :) </p> <p>Have you noticed everyone puts wreaths on the front door but we don’t often see them on the sliding glass door! All I did was use a suction cup to hang it from! :)</p> <p> Here’s a close up of the banner too :)</p> <p><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/SwTL5TkLLrI/AAAAAAAAAdU/7E97kFTKRD0/s1600-h/DSC08908%5B18%5D.jpg"><img style="border: 0px none ; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; width: 396px; height: 90px;" title="DSC08908" alt="DSC08908" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/SwTL57m5klI/AAAAAAAAAdY/FWXxLCGZ_QM/DSC08908_thumb%5B17%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" border="0" /></a> </p> <p></p> <p>That’s 2 projects to share down! :)</p><p>Linked up to these PARTIES!:</p><p><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://www.theshabbychiccottage.net/"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 216px; height: 144px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhrY92sVH6yyUSLqFNl74Ir6Wt7eDl1l1Ua_cq0uOekuRTT4qweJh0CkJYBB6AHbb_aZJs0_luF4hJ-ha1usOnEh5jFrJhyOx-1ERiYwtzrBIQBKeTWAyWa9QteGFkC_OUjAMWsZJ1klUaz/s320/TTbutton.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5405676088612523202" border="0" /></a></p>Stefaniehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00676040527130456768noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6459398511448287551.post-74655782815875434662009-11-18T20:21:00.001-08:002010-04-20T17:48:55.366-07:00Dollar Store Frame Makeover<p>I have a very large wall in my living room that just didn’t seem “right” it was ok… but it needed a redo. You see This is the high point of the room too – we have vaulted ceilings. What was there didn’t accent them as all. </p> <p>So here is what it looked like before:</p> <p><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/SwTHvNDAe4I/AAAAAAAAAcc/oU-13GgtosA/s1600-h/DSC05906%5B5%5D.jpg"><img style="border: 0px none ; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="DSC05906" alt="DSC05906" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/SwTHvcHOiBI/AAAAAAAAAcg/jst8ercSEZY/DSC05906_thumb%5B3%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" border="0" height="285" width="410" /></a> </p> <p>See… I think it’s that the bird pictures and the monogrammed print just weren’t working together.</p> <p>I thought for sure that some <a href="http://www.lherbertdesigns.com/">L. Herbert</a> prints would look great with them.</p> <p>So I went to the dollar store and bought 4 frames that I like the details of. </p> <p>This is what they looked like when I bought them:</p> <p><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/SwTHv_vl20I/AAAAAAAAAck/2jK-KyqQ0e4/s1600-h/DSC08892%5B6%5D.jpg"><img style="border: 0px none ; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="DSC08892" alt="DSC08892" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/SwTHwGfpR5I/AAAAAAAAAco/gE9f-hycbs4/DSC08892_thumb%5B4%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" border="0" height="284" width="410" /></a> </p> <p><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/SwTHwgJ0IJI/AAAAAAAAAcs/g_5hhiM5_Po/s1600-h/DSC08893%5B8%5D.jpg"><img style="border: 0px none ; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="DSC08893" alt="DSC08893" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/SwTHxR66ndI/AAAAAAAAAcw/tHd5DJQZrSI/DSC08893_thumb%5B6%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" border="0" height="287" width="410" /></a> </p> <p>Here is a close up of the frames after:</p> <p><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/SwTHxj71POI/AAAAAAAAAc0/XjtstaLy0w4/s1600-h/DSC08919%5B5%5D.jpg"><img style="border: 0px none ; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="DSC08919" alt="DSC08919" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/SwTHyMvty6I/AAAAAAAAAc4/VRJvcTnykao/DSC08919_thumb%5B3%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" border="0" height="285" width="410" /></a> </p> <p>Awwww yes very nice! </p> <p>I was at Joann’s and found a perfect sign to top it off too. </p> <p>Here is the whole wall after!</p> <p><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/SwTHyWqsVvI/AAAAAAAAAc8/ItWjJfV0fm8/s1600-h/DSC08916%5B6%5D.jpg"><img style="border: 0px none ; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="DSC08916" alt="DSC08916" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/SwTHyz7gN5I/AAAAAAAAAdA/mLQZ4fVnMEg/DSC08916_thumb%5B8%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" border="0" height="309" width="410" /></a></p> <p>I love it! So much better! Don’t worry I am going to put the monogram up somewhere else. On a wall by my front door :)</p> <p>I have more projects I didn’t get around to posting yet that I will be posting too. If I don’t do it now I won’t get to it for awhile because I just started a HUGE small project :) Oh yes. COMPLETE bathroom redo! in my SUPER small bathroom! I can’t wait to finish and show you!</p><p>This post brought to you by the following blog parties!<br /></p><p><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://www.theshabbychiccottage.net/"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 216px; height: 144px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiThqws69-8r58NSxf_loGethVo_q7cEn4ovPzlazDrHpwxZO9pyF4Tot-mDtXFji2IpjQek5vTHoT-lOGGaH3ffiIeHzUYsX_iswq615HjOcORX0EpQdBW8JFfeZmGAVAc5vrdAilQYHxi/s320/TTbutton.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5405676408626710914" border="0" /></a></p>Stefaniehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00676040527130456768noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6459398511448287551.post-28291985086594644072009-11-17T11:51:00.001-08:002010-04-20T17:50:09.565-07:00A Window Mistreatment ProjectI have a small window in my kitchen over my sink. I have done many window treatments on it. The one that was there was driving me crazy. It was not meshing well with everything else in my house. Want to see? <p><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/SwL-n_YsMeI/AAAAAAAAAcE/Ur76dVMkjsM/s1600-h/DSC08895%5B9%5D.jpg"><img style="border: 0px none ; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="DSC08895" alt="DSC08895" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/SwL-ofwurVI/AAAAAAAAAcI/fLjGTpzKZs4/DSC08895_thumb%5B7%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" border="0" height="257" width="370" /></a> </p> <p>Ugly and BORING! It was definitely time for an update!</p> <p>Here is the window now! </p> <p><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/SwL-oikWFHI/AAAAAAAAAcM/fYTn2ksJWVY/s1600-h/DSC08898%5B8%5D.jpg"><img style="border: 0px none ; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="DSC08898" alt="DSC08898" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/SwL-pekKf7I/AAAAAAAAAcQ/szmrXs5zuo4/DSC08898_thumb%5B6%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" border="0" height="257" width="370" /></a> </p> <p>I LOVE IT!!! It pulls everything together!</p> <p>Want to know how I did it?</p> <p>I started with a piece of burlap. Cut it to the size I wanted</p> <p>Then I sewed on some muslin ruffle I had gotten at the goodwill!</p> <p>Then I hot glued on some black ball fringe</p> <p>Then I used some of the left over muslin ruffle to make “hooks” I just cut out strips and they already had a hole! :)</p> <p>Then just hot glued those on and hung!</p> <p>So do you love it as much as I do???</p> <p><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/SwL-phe8nsI/AAAAAAAAAcU/kuGF4OqrNOI/s1600-h/DSC08897%5B9%5D.jpg"><img style="border: 0px none ; This seemed like the perfect opportunity for me to get in on the action and make my very first tassel!</p> <p align="center">Here’s the finished product:</p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/SwL48EpHo9I/AAAAAAAAAbQ/lfvx_VdcZ04/s1600-h/DSC08904%5B8%5D.jpg"><img style="border-width: 0px; display: inline;" title="DSC08904" alt="DSC08904" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/SwL48socTsI/AAAAAAAAAbU/-e-w8Dqw4Kc/DSC08904_thumb%5B6%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" border="0" height="418" width="290" /></a> </p> <p align="center">Hanging on my sliding glass door!</p> <p align="center">So why is it called the “Let me out” Tassel? </p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/SwL48wepbWI/AAAAAAAAAbY/H28SlvCZGGs/s1600-h/DSC08906%5B8%5D.jpg"><img style="border-width: 0px; display: inline;" title="DSC08906" alt="DSC08906" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/SwL49l7e59I/AAAAAAAAAbc/LMtVhAmnkRQ/DSC08906_thumb%5B6%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" border="0" height="419" width="290" /></a> </p> <p align="center">Isn’t he cute?? That’s my boy Toby. In case you haven’t noticed yet I have furbabies and no real babies yet. I taught him as a puppy to ring a bell to go potty. He no longer needs it as he can hold it but still it will enable him to not have to.</p> <p align="center">You see what I did it put a bell in the middle of the tassel! So if he needs to go he can just knock the tassel and I will hear it :)</p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/SwL49xNG6TI/AAAAAAAAAbg/UaHuzc6pSqg/s1600-h/DSC08903%5B10%5D.jpg"><img style="border-width: 0px; display: inline;" title="DSC08903" alt="DSC08903" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/SwL4-sQY6PI/AAAAAAAAAbk/nA1_XXIY8Oo/DSC08903_thumb%5B8%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" border="0" height="418" width="290" /></a> </p> <p align="center">See that jingle bell in there? :)</p> <p align="center">Here’s the how to for putting a jingle bell in your Tassel:</p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/SwL4-wZeYiI/AAAAAAAAAbo/G_Rx75vLsqY/s1600-h/DSC08900%5B8%5D.jpg"><img style="border-width: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="DSC08900" alt="DSC08900" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/SwL4_as4H6I/AAAAAAAAAbs/W6_tZ4ZhfRc/DSC08900_thumb%5B6%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" border="0" height="257" width="370" /></a> </p> <p>1. Supplies:</p> <blockquote> <p> 1. Jute</p> </blockquote> <blockquote> <p> 2. Bell</p> </blockquote> <blockquote> <p> 3. Lid to be used for tassel – I took this off some mousse or something in the bathroom :)</p> </blockquote> <p><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/SwL4_hWq1RI/AAAAAAAAAbw/1xTjT4iB0E8/s1600-h/DSC08901%5B9%5D.jpg"><img style="border-width: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="DSC08901" alt="DSC08901" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/SwL5AHSqInI/AAAAAAAAAb0/g6lunyTbXaI/DSC08901_thumb%5B7%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" border="0" height="414" width="290" /></a></p> <p>2. Next drill a small hole in the lid</p> <p>3. Tie bell to one end of Jute</p> <p>4. Stick other end of Jute up through the hold in the lid and tie knot in the end large enough so it does not go back through the hole. I had my bell hanging just below the end of the lid.</p> <p>(Sorry no pictures for these last steps! This is my first time trying to do some sort of tutorial so forgive me!)</p> <p>5. Then just make your tassel as normal! I followed <a href="http://tatertotsandjello.blogspot.com/2009/10/more-burlap-projects-burlap-tassels.html">Jen’s directions at Tatertots and Jello</a></p> <p>And here you have it. A functional tassel!</p> <p><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/SwL5AUX5urI/AAAAAAAAAb4/7PnTApLY79c/s1600-h/DSC08905%5B8%5D.jpg"><img style="border-width: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="DSC08905" alt="DSC08905" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/SwL5BFwrjHI/AAAAAAAAAb8/oqI67Mh1cIE/DSC08905_thumb%5B6%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" border="0" height="419" width="290" /></a> </p> <p align="center">Seriously have you seen the doggy bells they sell?? They are not NEARLY as pretty AND they cost $16+!!! This tassel is a much better solution!</p> <p><a href="http://www.poochie-pets.net/"><img style="border-width: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="image" alt="image" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/SwL5Bog06qI/AAAAAAAAAcA/giogZIrudLw/image%5B11%5D.png?imgmax=800" border="0" height="524" width="290" /></a> </p> <p align="center">Enjoy your day! I have a TON more projects I will be posting today! I have been a very busy crafter in the last 24 hours! :) That’s why I made Motivation Monday! :) It really works!</p>Stefaniehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00676040527130456768noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6459398511448287551.post-591410695435585312009-11-16T10:33:00.001-08:002010-04-20T17:54:16.850-07:00Motivation Monday<p> </p> <p>Ok people. Am I the ONLY person NOT ready to begin thinking and crafting Christmas yet?? Well I am not ready… but this week may be about getting ready. This week I am looking for pretty organization! My goal this week is to get my house in order so that when the christmas starts rolling in and taking over it won’t get overwhelming! :)</p> <p>Here are some of the ideas I love. Don’t forget to link yours up at the bottom!</p> <p align="center">My Thrifty decor chick shows us how to make labels out of… PAINT CHIPS! Yes that means FREE people! PLUS it means you can match your label colors EXACTLY to paint colors in your room!</p> <p><img style="border-width: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; width: 406px; height: 312px;" title="image" alt="image" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/SwGa4NOnVLI/AAAAAAAAAas/dBC2z092qFc/image%5B6%5D.png?imgmax=800" border="0" /> </p> <p> </p> <p align="center">Chris at Just a Girl did this in her kitchen cabinet… It just looks so organized to me! I actually copied this one already! :)</p> <p><a href="http://j-a-girl.blogspot.com/2009/09/youre-still-organizing.html"><img style="border-width: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; width: 405px; height: 314px;" title="image" alt="image" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/SwGa4jaB_UI/AAAAAAAAAaw/5F4FyXlJB5g/image%5B13%5D.png?imgmax=800" border="0" /></a></p> <p align="center">She also did this in her GARAGE! Seriously that is her garage people! I am SOOOOOOOO jealous! I want my garage to look that gorgeous and be that organized!</p> <p><a href="http://j-a-girl.blogspot.com/2009/05/entry-transformed.html"><img style="border-width: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; width: 408px; height: 319px;" title="image" alt="image" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/SwGa5Ul_GCI/AAAAAAAAAa0/51mI5BfIUHE/image%5B26%5D.png?imgmax=800" border="0" /></a> </p> <p></p> <p align="center">Have you seen these?? I love them! Of course I have already made these myself too. Saved a pretty penny :) I will show you mine in a later post. It made it so I can store the dog and cat food out in the open and so opened a drawer where it was before to store things I can’t store in such pretty containers for everyone to see</p> <div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/SwGa5psdufI/AAAAAAAAAa4/a1ej80Xv5qo/s1600-h/image%5B30%5D.png"><img style="border-width: 0px; display: inline;" title="image" alt="image" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/SwGa6mtwKUI/AAAAAAAAAbA/rT0AF31-pu0/image_thumb%5B16%5D.png?imgmax=800" border="0" height="420" width="420" /></a></div><p> </p> <p> </p> <p align="center">Check out this magnetic chalkboard from Spacey Lacy! I am planning to make one for my kitchen. It’s been on my brain for awhile now. I am planning on using metal and painting it with chalkboard paint.</p> <p><a href="http://spacey-lacy.blogspot.com/2009/07/chalkboard-tutorial.html"><img style="border-width: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; width: 398px; height: 339px;" title="image" alt="image" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/SwGa6-va0NI/AAAAAAAAAbE/XfhJv17VQf4/image%5B42%5D.png?imgmax=800" border="0" /></a></p> <p align="center">Wow is about all I can say about this…seriously… I would kill for that! I had a really good week at the Thrift Store this week!</p> <p>I found this adorable tart burner! It is so darn caauute! It was like $2.99 and since it was an electronic it was 30% off :) I also got that pretty bowl next to it. I needed a pretty new salad bowl! I have been keeping an eye out and finally found this!</p> <p><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/SvyqQNIRlFI/AAAAAAAAAZ8/9qs7OJknYs8/s1600-h/DSC08766%5B11%5D.jpg"><img style="border: 0px none ; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="DSC08766" alt="DSC08766" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/SvyqQoe8nQI/AAAAAAAAAaA/8WMhHioz5R8/DSC08766_thumb%5B9%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" border="0" height="276" width="392" /></a></p> <p> I got this nice CHEAP side table. My DH needed a larger one by his recliner. I was going to buy one like this at Target or something but was lucky to find this $3.99 one at Goodwill and furniture was 30% off. SCORE! You will see next week how I make it pretty :)<a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/SvyqQxm5uII/AAAAAAAAAaE/onhevrb7b7A/s1600-h/DSC08764%5B7%5D.jpg"><img style="border: 0px none ; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="DSC08764" alt="DSC08764" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/SvyqRu8iiQI/AAAAAAAAAaI/Oxgea8Mb3A4/DSC08764_thumb%5B5%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" border="0" height="337" width="235" /></a></p> <p align="center">I also found these two little milk glass like plates and they have dots around the outside which is my new love! They were $0.99 a piece. This ADORABLE apothecary type jar I fell in love with! We all know apothecary jars are all the rage right now. This one has silver top and base! AND to top it off a little bird! Two of my FAVORITE things that I have everywhere! Don’t you love finding one great piece that brings together multiple things in your decorating!! Next to that is also some rub on letters that were $0.99 </p> <p><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/SvyqR5pl8uI/AAAAAAAAAaM/xbUYY5tkvw8/s1600-h/DSC08765%5B7%5D.jpg"><img style="border: 0px none ; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="DSC08765" alt="DSC08765" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/SvyqSBsq77I/AAAAAAAAAaQ/HqYKqpRkGgc/DSC08765_thumb%5B5%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" border="0" height="289" width="417" /></a> </p> <p>Not pictured:</p> <p>2 fluffy throw pillows in the perfect color!! (Already washed and on the couch before they could get there pic taken! :) (They were also 30% off – I think they were $3.99?? each before the 30% off)</p> <p>1 coleman lantern/flashlight</p> <p></p> <p></p> <p>It was a really great week! Everything but flashlight was one trip to one store! I only went to one other store this week and all I got there was the flashlight!</p> <p>So this shows you can get great stuff at Thrift Stores and not have to go everyday!!</p><p><br /></p><p>Linking to:<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiawlZZQTrqShYid80AA-kFVT9bYbemukms2t_ynemzcYpQ5-58nmFovANVYwYUh_CA0GLC8MtD37yaD1z72oi8fqupDaAZNvtPNhRnlG0BEHcxuN41KBoZfS7-hxNG05xy7IOfOJT97zsy/s1600-h/thriftthursday.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 250px; height: 190px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiawlZZQTrqShYid80AA-kFVT9bYbemukms2t_ynemzcYpQ5-58nmFovANVYwYUh_CA0GLC8MtD37yaD1z72oi8fqupDaAZNvtPNhRnlG0BEHcxuN41KBoZfS7-hxNG05xy7IOfOJT97zsy/s320/thriftthursday.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5403429969574849938" border="0" /></a></p><p style="text-align: left;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://romantichome.blogspot.com/"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer; width: 213px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiX8-MVu7KGioKkTtPIgNwltxT61ClTCj46gy_0ih2L0ZR3NgFlpVp0hNxalKi1O3qPqSp8VXnW4b-bWMjk2W3bAIoCFobIGRHb5vAHHvroZZfdEy2HcjmigdqAZVbeA03YhJ9HF60Wz9GK/s320/show+and+tell+fridays.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5403429486732329298" border="0" /></a></p><p><img src="file:///C:/Users/SUPERL%7E1/AppData/Local/Temp/moz-screenshot-1.png" alt="" /></p>Stefaniehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00676040527130456768noreply@blogger.com14tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6459398511448287551.post-91135070647805017242009-11-10T21:33:00.001-08:002010-04-20T17:53:03.383-07:00I’m a Copy Cat! And some sneak peeks :)<p>So my <a href="http://morethanahouse.blogspot.com/2009/11/motivate-me-monday-fall.html">Motivation Monday</a> post REALLY Motivated me this week! I have already copied TWO of the projects I featured! Imitation is the best form of flattery so these ladies should be flattered! They deserve it! Check out what I did:</p> <p><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/SvpMs7KNwSI/AAAAAAAAAZQ/jbJmj8plAXw/s1600-h/DSC08767%5B11%5D.jpg"><img style="border: 0px none ; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="DSC08767" alt="DSC08767" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/SvpMtM5vwVI/AAAAAAAAAZU/yX-PxTyaoFU/DSC08767_thumb%5B9%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" border="0" height="461" width="319" /></a> </p> <p align="center">Yes that is a Copy Cat of <a href="http://itssoverycheri.blogspot.com/2009/11/lettered-pumpkin-tutorial-its-so-very.html">Cheri’s!</a> I had already bought an old book with browned pages that I was waiting for just the right project and this was it! So that is all the natural coloring! No glaze for me :)</p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/SvpMtVt9rtI/AAAAAAAAAZY/6vuRWqD7stE/s1600-h/DSC08768%5B7%5D.jpg"><img style="border: 0px none ; display: inline;" title="DSC08768" alt="DSC08768" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/SvpMuLHWf6I/AAAAAAAAAZc/oT6VI9hl3wU/DSC08768_thumb%5B5%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" border="0" height="294" width="424" /></a><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/SvpMuef452I/AAAAAAAAAZg/4tsOE8VRKmg/s1600-h/DSC08769%5B7%5D.jpg"><img style="border: 0px none ; display: inline;" title="DSC08769" alt="DSC08769" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/SvpMu-2B0EI/AAAAAAAAAZk/mvTNDLhpemc/DSC08769_thumb%5B5%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" border="0" height="447" width="309" /></a> </p> <p align="center">Ah YES! I absolutely LOVE it! This chair is in the corner of my dining room so it’s just perfect! It’s a copy cat from <a href="http://latdah.blogspot.com/2009/11/give-thanks-burlap-pillow.html">Tiffany</a> and <a href="http://diaryofacraftaholic.blogspot.com/2009/11/burlap-pillows-made-with-grocery-sacks.html">Linda</a>. I stuffed it with plastic grocery bags like Linda did. You can’t tell can ya? :) No one is going to use the pillow for anything since it is scratchy burlap so it doesn’t matter. And I needed to find something to do with all those darn things!</p> <p align="center">And this is a project I did that didn’t necessarily copy anyone in particular :)</p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/SvpMvZGE6-I/AAAAAAAAAZo/Yd4sM1pV-Z8/s1600-h/DSC08770%5B9%5D.jpg"><img style="border: 0px none ; display: inline;" title="DSC08770" alt="DSC08770" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/SvpMvpQDQyI/AAAAAAAAAZs/F1v_Y2g29V0/DSC08770_thumb%5B10%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" border="0" height="351" width="355" /></a> </p> <p align="center">I just painted the M on. I don’t have one of those fancy Cricut machines yet to cut out vinyl letters. But Santa if you are reading this… I would like one for Christmas :)</p> <p align="center">Here is just something I threw up. Not so much a project but I will have to find a way to pretty it up a bit. </p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/SvpMwLZWHiI/AAAAAAAAAZw/rgcg_baZtC4/s1600-h/DSC08771%5B7%5D.jpg"><img style="border: 0px none ; display: inline;" title="DSC08771" alt="DSC08771" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/SvpMwQjn5mI/AAAAAAAAAZ0/W9Vvc1f2jWY/DSC08771_thumb%5B5%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" border="0" height="267" width="384" /></a> </p> <p> </p> <p></p> <p></p> <p></p> <p></p> <p></p> <p>So what did I do today?? My Mommy and I went thrifting. I will give you a sneak peak and post everything on Thrift Store Thursday since I have a few more days to shop! :)</p> <p></p> <p></p> <p></p> <div style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px; display: inline; float: none;" id="scid:66721397-FF69-4ca6-AEC4-17E6B3208830:bb74c78d-4a51-4bd4-bfd9-57b5f4ae0c3c" class="wlWriterEditableSmartContent"><a style="border: 0px none ;" href="http://cid-83e2d35fcea30f01.skydrive.live.com/redir.aspx?page=browse&resid=83E2D35FCEA30F01%21134&ct=photos"><img style="border: 0px none ;" alt="View Sneak Peak Thrift Store Thursday" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_L1s4PVpqVOI/SvpMwqawZiI/AAAAAAAAAZ4/JF-Cj29qSlk/InlineRepresentationaffeddba-e308-4a4c-9a9d-42f9d0dab576%5B6%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" /></a><div style="width: 385px; text-align: right;"><a href="http://cid-83e2d35fcea30f01.skydrive.live.com/redir.aspx?page=browse&resid=83E2D35FCEA30F01%21134&ct=photos">View Full Album</a></div></div>Stefaniehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00676040527130456768noreply@blogger.com2
