Happy Halloween!

DSC08677

We carved our pumpkin today! That’s us carving it :)

Here’s a couple of what it looked like done :) An “M” monogram for our last name. That way I can have it up past Halloween.

We lit it with a battery powered lantern.

Watch out for the crows..... and the bumble bee!!!

The DIY Show Off

I'm finally linking up to the DIY Fall Festival!!

This halloween I started out with lots of motivation. I was excited to decorate and craft... but somewhere I lost it. So there are a few things I didn't do that I wanted to or normally do. But here is what I have.

White pumpkin on black urn in my kitchen

Graveyard on the counter

Black glittered skull from dollar store. Placed on candle holder with plate and a cheese dome over. Two pumpkins. One in a nest. (wanted that to be a white pumpkin too....one of the things I didn't get done I was talking about :)
.

Spooky banner hanging from curtain rod

Dining wall - Got wood skull from micheals and glittered it myself. Dollar store skulls in left clear vase, crow on candles, and candy in apothecary jar. (I wish there wasn't such a reflection in the mirror! It's destracting)

Close up of candy jar.

Crow

Skulls

My potions that you saw in a previous post

Put a white glitter skull from dollar store in my fav bird cage and draped some spooky fabric over

Dollar store frame, craft paper, wood letters from goodwill and some glitter mad this cute little boo sign

My fav fall card. From a local artist. Set in an antique frog on a silver tray. This is one of the only fall - non halloween touches so far

Dollar store pumpkin, painted white and placed on a little metal stand. There's another one of those darn crows!!!

These crows are so great. They are from the dollar tree and just add a subtle halloween touch wherever you need one - I wish I had gotten more and now I can't seem to find any.

I love white "ghost" pumpkins

And the cutest halloween decoration of all

That's my dog Issabella dressed up as a bumble bee :) Is she not the cutest thing you have ever seen! You can tell she doesn't like the hood on her head in the first picture. Once it's off she thinks she is the coolest thing around!

My Dream House

Yup that's it... isn't she beautiful? Nestled on 5 acres... with the white picket fence, a pool, a greenhouse a HUGE Kitchen and laundry room and a creek!

I lived there for a year or two when I was a kid. I have never been able to get it out of my head. I always loved that house. It was on the market about a year ago too for a bargain price... I swear if we were not stuck in this house I would have talked my hubby into buying it...Unfortunately that is the only picture they had in the listing... I so wonder if the inside looks the same....

Just wanted to share with my bloggy friends. Do you have a dream house? Make a post on your blog and put the link in the comments. I want to see!!

Halloween Food

As I have said before food is part of making a house a home. So here are some ideas for fun food this Halloween. You can click on the pictures for links to recipes!! I try to show recipes that are not just the sweet ones that you see everywhere. This should be almost a complete meal and cover all the food groups

~Spiderweb Tomato Soup!~
I have done this before and it's fun. I used a pumpkin for a serving bowl! Also if you use soup from a can it makes this SOUPER Easy! :)

~Mummy Hot Dogs~

Bone Breadsticks

~Pumpkin Veggie Tray~
Don't forget to eat your veggies!!

~Carmel and chocolate Apples~
A classic must

Trash 2 Treasure Tuesday - Halloween Edition

It's Tueday! You know what that means... Trash 2 Treasure day over at Reinvented and DIY day at A Soft Place to land. I am so sad I missed last week because I wanted to share this project then... but as I was getting around to it... my power went out! :( So I bring it to you this week.

I saw these on The Idea Room Blog in one of her posts here. Oh how fun! So I set out to create my own. I found these jars at Ben Franklin Craft store. I thought they would be so cute with some of these labels... but I still had to decide what to put in them. I got the eyeball candies in the small one from the dollar store but still had the other two. I knew I wanted to use labels from here but which ones?

That's when I came across the werewolf one and it came to me...brush my dog! hehe so I brushed him and put his hair inside. Then printed the label on address labels and stuck in on! :) I love it!

This one is just water with food coloring! SUPER SIMPLE!

Now if I really was going trash to treasure I would have just used empty glass jars from food stuff and painted the lids black... but we don't use a lot of jars around here so they weren't readily available.

So head over to Love Manor - get your labels - and start making some potions!!!

I MADE IT....without my hubby!

Shanty2Chic is having a party! I LOVE parties and this seemed like just the party to get me blogging after taking the summer off and working on projects! :) Check out all the others or join in on the party here:

Shanty 2 Chic

So what's my project you ask? I built new doors for our faux fireplace/entertainment/extra seating/etc....hehe....AND painted it!!!! I didn't take before photos :( BUT I still had one of the old doors...here... UGH SOOOOOO FLIMSY!!!!

Yup that is right... just plastic and suuuuper thin wood...that is also the color the whole thing was...WAY too dark for my tiny place!!!

And the reveal....

ahhhhh... much nicer! so thicker wood... beadboard for the main part ... and the top...of course its burlap! YUMMO! Because hiding behind that burlap....Cable box, xbox, wii...ETC! shhh don't tell anyone...And don't worry... because it's burlap... the remotes still work ;) Here's a close up of that:

Oh you want to see the whole thing huh? well ok....

There are a few lonely things thrown up there for now... just took down summer stuff and have slowly been putting up fall/halloween...And ignore the things in the foreground... told you place is SMALL... couldn't get the whole thing in without getting coffee table stuff...cute purse though huh? :) Here's the upper half... with the beautiful art err... TV :)

I'm still not completely pleased with the antiquing I did...I have never really antiqued such a light piece before...so will probably do some adjusting and still have to do sanding... but the main work is complete :) I LURVE it!!!

Thanks for visiting!
